The Head of the Department of Mass Communication of the Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi Uku, Delta State, Dr Chike Nwabudike today denounced in strong terms the blackmail reportage of some journalists against the polytechnic.
Nwabudike maintained that there was no corruption or extortion of students as regards the writing of remedial exams .
A reporter from The Mirror newspaper in Lagos named Jude alleging that the head of department was remarking the booklets of students .
Nwabudike said that the standards in university or polytechnic examinations is that no head of department or lecturer has power to remark a course he didn’t teach.
The allegations of making money from such unethical behaviour existed more in the imagination of the reporter and his sponsors.
Nwabudike directed the reporter from The Mirror newspaper to contact the unit responsible for the remedial exams.
When The Pond News called Jude on the number he used in calling the Head of Department, he didn’t take the calls..
Similarly, the text message to him was not replied .
The Pond News recalled that October 1, The Guardian newspaper ran a similar story of alleged extortion and manipulation of the remedial exams.
The Pond News understands that the conduct of the remedial exams is handled by a unit.
It seems some journalists and their collaborators are held bent in passing propaganda as news without even visiting the polytechnic to carry out investigation.
The reportage of the two reporters are more concoctions and armed chair journalism narrative.
