Unreported News

Oborevwori :APC, PDP Tango
The current news in Delta State is the rumoured and proposed defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to the APC.
There is too much claims and counter claims on both sides that it is pretty difficult to know which party is speaking the truth.
The PDP had said that Oborevwori remains in the PDP. The APC on its part said that the party was not ready to receive any failed politician including the governor of the state.
Amidst these , Oborevwori is silent, giving room to media speculations.
But two facts are glaring. The EFCC noose is tightening on Senator Ifeanyi Okowa on the alleged misuse of the derivation funds.
Oborevwori wants to save his neck. And that explains his nocturnal visits to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and even the recent visit to Ghana.
Nothing is hidden in politics and in the words of the Nigerian Bard Chinua Achebe, you cannot cover pregnancy with palm.

Journalists Welfare

If the truth must be told, journalists in the Oborevwori administration are treated as postscript.
The welfare of journalists are treated with disdain and levity.
Go to Rivers and Lagos states, journalists are courted.
The problem of Delta journalists are the media aides that are qualified journalists.
The moment, they are given office and position, they assumed airs of superiority and treating their former colleagues, the way Mother Superior treats nuns in a nunnery.
It is very unfortunate.
A broadcast journalist of Asaba Correspondents Chapel had health challenges, the government and media aides looked the other way.
Mr Sola Adebayo,a journalist put them to shame by giving that colleague N2.5m.
It is high time NUJ set up endowment fund for distressed journalists. Waiting for government help would be endless wait.

Power struggle in Asaba

The appointees of government who came through Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the former governor are quaking with fears .
For their political fate shall be decided on how Okowa corruption case with EFCC ends.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is scout ready to cut the umbilical cord with Okowa. He wants to put his men in strategic positions.
If you are still wondering why there are two works Commissioners (Urban and Rural Roads), Oborevwori wants to see what is happening at the big pie.
At the time of writing this story, news filtered of minor cabinet reshuffle.
When that news becomes clearer, Delta State shall see an epic struggle between a political God father and God son, the type playing out in Rivers State.
For a government notorious for political sloganeering and propaganda and stingy in provision of democratic dividends, it is a distraction that the state cannot afford
