Delta State government yesterday said its investment in sports facilities development was to train young athletes for national and international competitions.
The State Information Commissioner Mr Charles Aniagwu stated this in the prestigious Stephen Keshi stadium, Asaba.
Aniagwu said the huge facilities for the ongoing National Sports Festival shall be put into use by Deltans after the sports meet.
He disclosed that there are competitions for both primary and secondary schools.
For the primary school pupils, there is the headmaster cup in soccer and principal cup for secondary, according to Aniagwu.
Winners of both categories get buses donated by the state government.
The information commissioner , who is also chairman media and publicity sub committee told reporters that Team Delta was leading in the medals table.
