As part of efforts to curtail flooding, the Director General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency(DSCTDA), Chief Patrick Ukah, has expressed concern over dumping of refuse in drainages by some residents and business owners within the Capital Territory.
Ukah told newsmen recently in Asaba during the inspection of desilting of drainages in DBS Road, WAEC Road, Interbua roundabout, Transteel Road and Life and Power Street within the capital territory.
He added that some residents deposit various waste into drains, blocking them, thereby increasing floods.
The DG urged residents in the state capital to support the state government’s efforts to desilt their drains and properly dispose of waste.
He stated that plans were already in motion for the recycling and processing of wastes through robust private sector investment, adding that the waste to wealth initiative has become very popular across the world and the DSCTDA was ready to key into it and get its fair share of the initiative.
