Members of the 2022 Flood Disaster Management Committee have been charged to work diligently towards tackling the challenges that might be triggered by the incidence of flooding in the state.
Secretary to the State Government government, Chief Patrick Ukah, who is also the Chairman of the committee, gave the charge during the committee meeting held in his office in Asaba.

Ukah said that the implementation strategy for handling the 2022 flooding would be segmented into three phases which are; sensitization and enlightenment; preparation of camps for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and closure of the camps.

Other members of the committee include Commissioners Bureau for Special Duties, Environment, Health, Information, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Humanitarian Social Development and Community Support.

Others are Special Adviser, Environment and Marine Transport, Chairman of state chapter of the Association of Local Governments Of Nigeria (ALGON), Director General Orientation Bureau, Executive Secretary, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

The Secretary of the committee is the Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Special Duties.

As a follow up to the meeting, the Chairman of the committee, Ukah, alongside the Co Chairman and Commissioner Bureau for Special Duties, Mr. Johnbull Edema, with his Permanent Secretary visited Ogbe-Afor Primary School, Asaba, to ascertain facilities at the camp.

The committee Chairman expressed satisfaction over the facilities in the camp and assured that the 2022 flood management committee will do everything within its mandate for the smooth running of the camps that will be located in designated parts of the state.
