Warri Wolves emerges 2023 DFA champion

Warri wolves yesterday emerged the champions of this year DFA Cup by devouring Osavan FC of kwale by two goals to nil at the Stephen Keshi stadium.
The Delta Queens of Asaba also defeated the Royal Queens of Warri by three goals to nill in the female category.

In the men’s final, Warri Wolves defeated Osavan FC by two nill.

The two sides opened the encounter in a hurry to undo each other, but it was Warri Wolves,who drew the first blood in the 43rd minute through lzuchukwu christian and sealed their victory in the 54th minute, when Jabbar Malik connected perfectly from a free kick taken just at the edge of the box to slid a loose ball pass Osevan FC goalie.
The goal changed the entire complexion of the encounter and deflated the hopes of
the two times finalist from Kwale.
It was Wolves third triumph in recent times and they have qualified to represent Delta state at 2023 national federations cup tournament.
In the female category, Delta Queens of Asaba defected Royal Queens of Warri by three nill.

Addressing journalists at the event, the chairman technical committee of the DFA, Steve Cole commended the Delta state government,the state sports commission,and the entire football fraternity in the state for their various continuous support towards the advancement and development of the game in the state.
The DFA vice chairman said the association has brought back the glory of the competition as the Delta FA Cup had always been a big and important competition in the calendar of Delta sports.
He further disclosed that, the DFA will give its representatives at the national final of the Federation Cup, Warri Wolves FC, Delta Queens and Royal Queens the technical assistance they need to excel at the competition.
