The need for regular training of civil servants has been stressed.

This was stated by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Chief Patrick Ukah, while declaring open a two-day training workshop for junior and intermediate staff of the Governor’s Office in Warri.

He said that the training was organised to bring the staff to date with what was expected of them in the day to day activities of the office and the state at large.

The SSG who was represented by Mr. Jude Mordi, an assistant director in the office of the SSG, said the training was to equip the staff with the relevant tool to perform their duties effectively.

He therefore charged the participants to be committed in the training and ensure they showcased the knowledge gained in the discharge of their duties.

The workshop was put together by the office of the SSG in collaboration with Jonos Ventures Management Consultant.

In a remark the Director, Governor’s Office Annexe, Warri, Mrs. Violet Onovwakpokpo, stated that she initiated the training because of the important role the junior and intermediate cadres of staff played in the running of the office, adding that there was the need to carry them along by ensuring they had the requisite capacity to discharge their duties effectively.

She enjoined them to be attentive in the course of the training and to go home with something useful from it.

In a welcome address the Project Director, Mr. Joe Oghenechovwen, listed the benefit of the two day workshop to include the ability of the staff to discharge their duties effectively.

The benefiting staff commended the Director, Mrs. Onovwakpokpo, for initiating the training and the state government for the approval and subsequent release of funds to ensure the workshop could hold.

They stated that it was the first time they were having the opportunity of being trained and promised to reciprocate the gesture through effective discharge of their duties.
