Tricycle operators, popularly known as Keke riders, have protested the multiple taxation, levied on them by the Chairman of Tricycle Operators at Orhuwhorun, Delta State.

Only recently, the tricycle operators were moved to a new park, opposite the Orhuwhorun town hall to stem the traffic gridlocks at the Usiefurun Junction.

It was reported that the gesture turned soured as the tricycle operators were made to pay for tickets at the park and along the road, morning and afternoon, making it four times a day.

Mr Solomon Agbo, a tricycle operator, said the taxation was too high as they do not even make enough money in the business.

He therefore appealed to the state government to look into the matter.

According to Mr Andrew Elemi, another tricycle operator, the money collected from them had not even been judiciously spent, adding that they were made to understand that it would be used to keep the park clean and the roads motorable, but that “till now, nothing has been done.”
