Deltans have been admonished on the continuous use of the libraries across the 25 local government area in the state, describing them as means of information dissemination to the public.
Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu made this known while playing host to the Director of Delta State Library Board, Mrs Rosemary Eboh and her management staff who paid him a courtesy visit last week in his office.
The commissioner stated that all state-owned libraries had to be functional and well equipped to be effectively used by students
He added that the board should sensitize the public, especially the children to know the value and use of library, stressing that there were information gotten from the library that could not be seen on android phones.
Ashibogwu assured the management staff of the board that the state government would support any project that would help reshape the state of libraries in Delta.
“We will liaise with the state government to support you in order for library in all the Local Government Areas in the state to take a phase lift in the areas of infrastructure and equipment,” he said.
Earlier, the Director of Delta State Library Board, Mrs Rosemary Eboh expressed gratitude to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the appointment of the Commissioner for Higher Education, stating that his appointment would support his administration.
While congratulating Ashibogwu for his appointment, she appealed that their staff strength be increased, Libraries across the 25 local government area be furnished, equipped and renovated.
