The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission has announced its intentions to increase the salaries and allowances of political leaders in Nigeria.
Those who are to benefit from the pay rise are the president, vice president, governors, deputy governors, Senate president, deputy Senate president, speaker of the House of Representatives and deputy speaker.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court will also benefit from the pay rise.
The Governors Forum has already welcomed the proposed salary hike.
But the Nigerian Labour Congress has warned of the consequences of the proposed hike, adding that Nigerian workers should be the ones to get pay rise and not the political leaders.
The Pond News understands that the fat political cats feeding on the sweats and blood of Nigerians should not be further pampered by Revenue Mobolisation and Fiscal Commission.
The political leaders ought to make sacrifices to reduce the cost of governance by downward of salary review for them.
The political leaders should not be parasites on the common patrimony.
