SIDE KICK . Oborevwori, Okowa not APC members

Despite last week defection of Governor Sheriff Óborevwori and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in Asaba, the two political bigwigs are not members of the APC for they don’t have membership cards.

The Pond News investigation revealed that both men are yet to register at their wards levels .

It is not clear if the two men have formally written resignation letters to the PDP.

Defection and acceptance are done at the ward levels.

This is giving bad signals to other members of the PDP whether the Asaba defection was a fluke.

While APC ward chairmen in the state are insisting on presentation of letter of resignation from the PDP, the state chairman of APC ,Elder Omeni Sobotie had overruled that such PDP members should be registered without precondition.

The Pond News understands that it would be looming crisis as such individuals would have two membership cards – APC and PDP

This strategy, The Pond News understands, could make such defectors to easily return to the PDP.

Meanwhile, Elder Emmanuel Ogidi and some PDP shots vowed to salvage the party, saying that PDP in Delta state would not die.

Ogidi, former south south PDP chairman said that a care taker committee was taking inventory of PDP assets and encouraging members not to defect.

Said Ogidi :’When the news went out that I had been given the assignment, I received many phone calls from people who said they were not going anywhere. There is still enthusiasm in PDP. PDP is still alive in Delta state.’

The Pond News investigation revealed that most PDP members were still sceptical about the defection and are yet to decide what to do.
