Four dirty tricks
The federal government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is using four tactics to scuttle the August 1 nationwide protest tagged ‘Stop bad governance’ aka hunger protest.
The tactics are using the court, sponsoring group to protest against the protest, using youth groups in press conferences and closing of federal universities for two weeks.
Today a Lagos High Court presided by Justice Emmanuel Ogundare has restricted the routes of the protesters.
According to the judge acting on the application filed by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Lawal Pedro, the protesters in Lagos are ordered to do their protest to the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota and Peace Park in Ketu.
Secondly, a viral video has surfaced where those youths who protested against the nationwide protest in Lagos are paid ten thousand Naira each.
The Pond News understands that such youths engaged in the protest against nationwide protest because of hunger.
Thirdly, most federal government universities are in forced two weeks holiday so that the students would not participate in the hunger protest.
The fourth tactics the government is using is to sponsor some tribal and youth groups to denounce the proposed nation wide hunger protest in press conferences.
Here in Delta State, some civil rights groups, students, tribal youths organization have spoken against the proposed protest, instead calling for dialogue.
Despite media speculations, it is not clear if the Sheriff Oborevwori has a hand in such press conferences.
