Sanusi backs Tinubu economic policies
The former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria and deposed Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi II has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu economic policies.
Sanusi bsaid the fuel subsidy removal and allowing the Naira to float were right economic policies.
Sanusi spoke to reporters yesterday after a meeting with the president in Aso Rock, Abuja.
The famous economist said he was also in Aso Rock to congratulate his friend.
Sanusi explained further: ‘The first reason was to come and congratulate him formally, but also because I wear many caps, I wear the cap of an economist so I came to thank him for the steps he has taken to put this economy on course.
As you know, many of the issues that we have talked about, the subsidy that has caused a harmorrhage on the fiscal, the multiple exchange rates regime and on.’
Sanusi further said that he was happy with Tinubu as the markets were happy with the decisions of the president.
He maintained that the government was doing the right thing , adding that the necessary feedback should be given to those in power.
The former emir also shared his thoughts on the herdsmen and farmers clashes.
Said Sanusi : “I’m concerned with the issue of herdsmen_farmers clashes. He (Tinubu) is also concerned. And we discussed steps that need to be taken to begin to look at some of those issues.’
The Pond News understands that the current administration in Kano is favourably disposed to return Sanusi as Emir of Kano.
