Three leading political parties that participated in last Saturday elections today called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack INEC chairman, Prof Mahood Yakubu.
They also called for fresh elections arguing that last Saturday elections were not free, fair and transparent.
The three political parties which made the call in a joint press conference in Abuja today are the Peoples Democratic Party, the Labour Party and the African Democratic Congres.
They alleged that the INEC chairman compromised the integrity of the elections by the refusal of the staff to transmit the elections results to INEC server.
The three parties threatened that they would no longer participate in the electoral process especially the collation of results in Abuja.
The parties rejected the results announced so far and called for fresh elections.
Part of the press statement reads:’We are therefore constrained by this development to state that INEC compromised the integrity of the election even before collation commenced at the polling units.
Section 60 sub section 5 of the Electoral Acts says that the presiding officer shall transfer the results, including total number of accredited voters and the results of the ballots in a manner prescribed by the Commission.’
It would be recalled that a former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo called for the cancellation of the results and conduct of fresh elections.
International elections observers also said that the election was not free, fair and credible.
The Pond News understands that INEC has compromised the integrity of the election and many Nigerians don’t believe the results of elections.
There are reports of election rigging and intimidation of voters to favour a particular political party.
