The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Kelly Kalanama Penawou yesterday promised that his office would work towards greater cooperation between the state government and councils towards the delivery of democratic dividends to the electorate.
The commissioner made the promise after the formal inauguration by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in Government House, Asaba.
He argued that the various local councils would be encouraged to key into the MORE agenda of the government.
Penawou also said that his job description was to consolidate on the gains of the government agenda for the betterment of all Deltans.
The commissioner stated that brighter days were ahead as the governor would deliver on his electoral promises.
Speaking earlier, the governor described Penawou as a square peg in square hole, adding that as a grassroots politician, the commissioner was very much abreast of the challenges of council administration.
It could be recalled that Penawou, a former council chairman recently served as Special Adviser on Local Government Affairs to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
