The Peoples Democratic Party has condemned in strong terms the destruction of its billboards in Warri, describing it as the height of political intolerance.
The party ,however, urged its members to remain calm.
In a press statement by the Delta State PDP publicity secretary, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza, it said the destruction of the huge Atiku/Okowa campaign billboards by thugs along Udu express junction near Warri in broad daylight bore the mark of the opposition APC.
The statement noted with sadness that it was coming a few hours after the signing of peace accord among the political parties in Asaba.
Part of the statement reads thus :”We also wish to caution the opposition and sponsors of this violence, especially the Delta State All Progressive Congress governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, to caution those who may be masquerading as his thugs, to be more circumspect in their opposition plans as we approach the elections, and desist henceforth and forthwith, from even conceiving and perpetrating any further acts of destruction and violence on our party billboards and other symbols.
PDP also said that the matter has been reported to police, adding that Delta State deserves to have free, credible and peaceful elections.”
