PDP condemns attack on media houses

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today in strong terms condemned the attack on some media houses in Port Harcourt, Rivers State saying it was an attempt to curtail freedom of expression of Nigerians.
The media organs attacked are Wish FM 99.5 and Atlantic Television.
Mr Charles Aniagwu, the spokesman for the PDP Presidential Campaign Council condemned the unfortunate incident in a statement issued in Lagos.
He noted that the attack was a direct assault on journalism and democracy in Nigeria, adding, however, that glory should be given to God that there was no human casaulty in the incident.
He advised those behind the attack that the vibrant Nigerian press cannot be intimidated.
Aniagwu observed that the attack was worrisome and capable of sending wrong signals about Saturday presidential and national assembly elections.
Said the PDP spokesman ;
“Also worrisom is the  promulgation of pletora of obnoxious executive orders targeted at strangulating the political space and haunding those with opposing views.
“We are calling on the international observers, the international community and the international criminal court to please pay attention to what is happening in Rivers with a view to bringing the pepertrators of violence to justice.”
