The governorship candidate of the PDP in Osun election, Senator Ademola Adeleke has won the election.
He defeated the incumbent governor and the APC candidate Adegboyega Oyetola.
According to INEC, Adeleke got 403,371 votes to Oyetola 375,027.
Returning officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of Unilag Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe said :’I declare Adeleke Ademola Jackson Nurudeen on behalf of chairman of INEC, of the PDP, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and he is returned election’.
The Pond news understands the Osun State victory is a considerable boost for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in next year election.
It will be recalled that Okowa led a team of PDP to campaign in Osun State for their candidate.
It is also a major political setback for the presidential ambition of Bola Tinubu.
