Oborevwori, Prudent Manager of Resources-Ekedayan

Deltans in diaspora have been assured that the State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Right Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori is committed to better management of resources and good governance.

Mr. Sonny Akporokiamo Ekedeyan, Hon Commissioner Budget and Economic Planning Delta State, gave the assurance while receiving an Award of Honour in recognition of his fiscal management strategies.

He said, “I want to assure you all that Delta State will be transformed under Governor Oborevwori. His positive sense of commitment to duty and infrastructural developments across the State is quite remarkable.

“Deltans are going to witness the reality of the MORE agenda”, he emphasized adding “I therefore urge you all to have confidence and unwavering support for the Governor.

“The Oborevwori administration is focused, people oriented in the formulation of policies and programmes. He is a governor for all Deltans,” he declared.

Speaking earlier, the Hon Minister for Aviation Aerospace Development, Chief Festus Keyamo who was represented by the acting DG NCAA, Capt Chris Najomo himself a recipient, thanked the organisers for the event. He said that “This Award of honour will spur me to be more focused and rededicate my efforts to delivering a satisfying aviation industry for the Nigeria people,” adding “the Ministry under my watch will leave no stone unturned and will continue to engage stakeholders to guarantee efficient aviation administration”.

Chief Hope Erute Abovi, President Genearal Uvwie General Improvement Union (UGIU Worldwide) who is a recipient of the award thanked the UGIU Lagos branch for organising the event. He said “I must appreciate you all, Lagos branch, for this initiative. In doing this you are fulfilling the obligations of the association, which is to promote the welfare and well-being of the Uvwie people. Uvwie people are excelling in their various capacities globally. I encourage other branches worldwide to honour and celebrate them like this”, he urged.

Earlier in her welcome remarks, the President General of Uvwie General Improvement Union (UGIU) Lagos Branch who organised the event, said that “This ceremony was put together to recognise and honour oustanding Uvwie Sons and Daughters who are excelling in their various capacities. It is a way of encouragement to them and inspiration to others,” she pointed out adding “more of this will come, we will continue to celebrate our brothers and sisters who are making us proud”.

The well-attended event which culminated with presentation of awards to deserving personalities held over the weekend at the Beverly International Event Center, Bariga Lagos. It witnessed the presence of Uvwie indigenes and well wishers from all works of life starting from the awardees. Others includes Proffesor of Law, Joseph Abugu (SAN), Professor of English and Literature and former Commisioner Higher Education Delta State, Hope Eghagha, Chief Edward Otomiewo, Chief Jons Binitie, Elder Tony Agbamu and Chief Mrs Alice Ighomrore, President Genearal UGIU Lagos branch among others.
