The Labour Party presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi has blamed successive government after Tafawa Belewa for inability to build dams.
The Labour Party standard bearer therefore promised to build more dams for agriculture and electricity ,and to control the annual flooding of the country.
He said that if the dams are built, they would be part of regenerative projects to yield revenue.
Obi made these remarks via his verified Twitter account yesterday.
Obi said that Balewa borrowed $82m to build the Kainji dam, which Nigerians are still benefiting from after sixty two years.
He argued that the nation ought to have more dams.
Obi tweeted thus:’Sir Tafawa Balewa borrowed $82m to build Kainji dam; 62 years later we still benefit from Kainji dam. Today, we owe a debt that could build 160 Kainji dams. But where are the dams? We have not invested in regenerative projects.’
