No minimum wage for Delta pensioners – Head of Service

The hope of retired civil servants, teachers and local government staff in Delta State to enjoy the N70,000 minimum wage approved by the Tinubu administration is dashed.

And this is official.

The Delta State Head of Service Mr Reginald Bayoko broke the news today in Asaba, the Delta State capital while speaking at the NUJ press in a programme tagged Journalist Hangout.

Bayoko clarified that the minimum wage does affect pensioners on the contributory pension scheme that retired 2007 and above.

He explained that it was therefore the duty pensions funds administrators to work something for such categories of pensioners.

He ,however , said that those who retired before 2007 and permanent secretaries who are on defined retirement scheme would get consequential adjustment.

On Government panel on the former Agriculture Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary and two other officials, he said the report had been submitted and those involved penalized according to civil civil regulations.

On a personal note, Bayoko thanked God for the mercies on his life, former state governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for the appointment and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his continued understanding.

He said he would be leaving the service as a fulfilled man.
