Nnamdi Kanu : Abuja boils as police, protesters clash

Today, Abuja, the seat of Nigerian government is mired in protests for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra .

Many media sources report that the police were chasing protesters and firing of tear gas to disperse thousands of Nigerian youths.

The protesters were forced to leave Maitama area only to regrouped at Utako.

The protesters, a coalition of civil rights activists and members of democracy groups vowed to march to Aso Rock, Abuja.

The ReleasedNnamdiKanuNow campaign are asking for the release of IPOB leader in line with 2022 Appeal Court judgement.

The Pond News understands that security is very tight in Abuja with soldiers ,police and DSS operatives positioned in Eagle Square, the Federal Secretariat and the Three Arms Zone.

Kanu has been in detention for years following his call for the State of Biafra to be carved out of Nigeria.

The proposed Biafra state ,according to Kanu is made up of all the South Eastern states,
the homeland of the Igbos, an echo of the Nigerian civil war.
