Disdainful treatment of Journalists
Journalists that covered the just concluded 8th National Youth Games in Asaba, came with a verdict : Incompetence and apartheid.
They accused Chief Solomon Ogba led LOC of gross incompetence and apartheid.
They particularly picked holes with the welfare of journalists.
An opinion poll conducted by The Pond News yesterday at the Stephen Keshi stadium among journalists said that apart from gross incompetence, there was display of apartheid.
The journalists bemoaned that only SWAN members were recognized even though such sports writers were not independent writers.
That non-SWAN members were treated with disdain.
Even more insulting, according to the journalists especially those from other states, was the subcommittee on media headed by Mr Harrison Ocholor.
Ocholor, a one time sports journalist with DBS, Asaba was simply invisible.
That prompted Chief Solomon Ogba to address the press on Tuesday, two days to the closing day(Thursday).
The Pond News understands that the lack of coordination among the members of the LOC is the absence of chairman of Delta State Sports Commission.
It is hoped that the governor shall appoint the chairman of the sports commission in the nearest future.
