Macauley calls on Ijaw people to develop community schools, harps on the importance of school sports

Dr Deinghan Ray Macauley, the executive assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on political matters over the weekend stressed the importance of school sports as a place where young talents can be discovered .

He also called on Ijaw people to develop their community schools.

He made the assertion at Epekiri primary school inter house sports Ogneinama and Olu primary school, Bomadi local government areas of Delta State.

Macauley who was special guest at both events expressed his gratitude to the school authorities for the invitation.

Speaking at Ogneinama, Macauley said sports teaches humanity the importance of teamwork, discipline and perseverance.

He praised the chairman of Ogneinama community for the support given to the school.

He lauded the efforts of the school teachers for the sports meet and impacting education on the pupils.

In a related development, Macauley speaking at Olu primary school, Bomadi charged the community to see the primary school as their own, adding that the needed support should be given to the school.

Said Macauley: ‘Olu primary school belongs to us despite the fact that government is running it, it’s our school, and therefore I want to appeal to the headmistress, don’t wait for the community to come to you, make a list of all the leaders in the community and have all their contacts, visit them and tell them what the school needs.’

The grassroots politician also called on Bomadi community to develop the school and assist the government in taking the school to the next level.

Macauley, an old boy of the primary school called on former pupils to develop their former primary school that gave them that educational foundation.

He donated sets of trophies as his contribution towards sports development in the school.
