Members of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP have been urged to close ranks and work unitedly to deliver victory for the party in the forthcoming local government elections in Delta State.
Sir Edwin Ogidi-Gbegbaje made the call in his remarks when he played host to candidates of the PDP in the forthcoming July 13th Delta local government elections at his residence recently in Ekpan.
At the well attended event, he said that there was need for unity of purpose among party members to ensure victory at the polls.
Ogidi-Gbegbaje disclosed that he decided to host the PDP candidates as well as party faithfuls in ward 9 and 10 to shore up support for the party’s candidates at the coming local government elections in the state. “It is important that the party takes the local government election seriously” he said, adding “efforts must be intensified by all to ensure PDP candidates win across boards.
The PDP deserves to win” he continued, “His Excellency Governor Sheriff Oborewvori is working and has embarked on multi billion naira people oriented projects in Uvwie and across the State this a fact that can not be disputed”, he pointed out.
“A victory for the PDP will ensure the execution of more projects and empowerment for all Deltans as Governor Sheriff means well for the Uvwie people” the pension boss said, while calling on all Uvwie indigenes and residents to “maintain the peace and shun all acts of violence during the elections” he concluded.
Hon Solomon Ighrakpata Chairman Delta State Board of Internal Revenue who attended the event said that, “Uvwie can not afford to be in opposition and must work hard to ensure totall victory for the PDP. The mistake of the past”, he stressed, “must not repeat itself. We must all stand together, and united to rally round our dear Governor Sheriff Oborewvori by voting overwhelmingly for the PDP candidates in the local government elections, he emphasized.
Ighrakpata who cited the meaningful projects being executed in Uvwie by the PDP led by Elder Sheriff Oborevwori described them “as very commendable and applauding”, adding “it is convincingly evident that Uvwie will benefit more when it continues to vote for our party the PDP.”
Elder Efe Okoledo, PDP Chairman Uvwie local government extolled Governor Oborevwori for making the PDP proud in Uvwie. He said that “the governor has elevated the prospects of our dear party with visible infrastructures and this has aided our campaign strategies. We are committed to ensure complete success for the PDP in the coming elections. We will campaign vigorously to every nooks and crannies with this infrastructural evidence to tell the Uvwie people that PDP is the right party”, he said excitedly.
Other leaders of the party who spoke at different times were unanimous in their commitment to ensure victory for the PDP. They pledged their support for the party and assured that they will work for the party candidates.
Also present at the event are Hon Ramsey Onoyake, immediate past Chairman of Uvwie local government, Chief Anthony Ofoni, Uvwie PDP Chairmanship candidate, Chief Edmond Ofudje Uvwie PDP Campaign Director and Mr. Bright Edejewrho former Commisioner. Others are, PDP Councilorship candidates, local government and ward executives of the party. Women and youth leaders and other party faithfuls.
