Lawyers working in the Delta State civil service have been charged to use their positions to innovate on judicial reforms currently going in the country.
The charge was given by the Chief Judge of Delta State Honourable Justice T. O. Diai in Asaba recently during a two day national executive council meeting of Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN).
Justice Diai stated that as government lawyers, they should deploy their professional competence in service of the nation, adding that they should be ‘ready to deploy innovations and initiatives contained in major justice sector reforms being undertaken by some states and the federal government for the overall interest of the general public’.
The chief judge hoped the association will be a platform to address critical issues affecting their welfare and working environment.
Earlier in his address, Barrister Tom Otunuya Anigara, the chairman of Delta State chapter of LOAN called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to confirm the appointment of the functioning solicitor general/permanent secretary, Mr Omamuzo Erebe.
Anigara also appealed to the governor to float car loans for legal officers and thanking the governor for a conducive working condition.
