Some land grabbers have taken a chunk of land meant for the Ughelli Stadium, Ughelli, headquarters of Ughelli North LGA of Delta State.
This discovery came to light yesterday when the chairman of Delta State Sports Commission Hon Onoriode Joshua Oborevwori visited the Ughelli stadium.
Oborevwori said it was disturbing that some people should brazenly encroached on government property and even vandalized them.
Said Oborevwori : ‘What we have seen here is very disturbing. Public facilities meant for sports development have been vandalized, and there is clear evidence of encroachment on government land’.
He warned that those responsible for taking government land would face the music, just as he vowed that government would take its land back.
The Delta State Sports Commission boss directed Mr Ominogho Johnson to prepare a comprehensive report of the stadium and its facilities, adding that the report would guide government on what to do.
