The Labour Party candidate for Enugu North senatorial district Okechukwu Ezea has defeated Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state.
The Labour Party candidate defeated the governor, a PDP candidate.
Ugwuanyi is serving his second term as a state governor.
This is the first defeat to a sitting governor in the national assembly election.
It would be recalled that Ugwuanyi served in the House of Representatives for twelve years.
The Pond News understands that the winning streak of Labour Party across the country is a rude shock to old politicians of the PDP and APC who were saying that Labour Party had no structures but more of social media frenzy.
In another development, a former governor of Edo state, comrade Adams Oshiomole has become a senator elect.
Oshiomole on the platform of APC won the Edo North senatorial district with 107, 110 votes to defeat the PDP candidate Senator Francis Alimikhena who got 55,344 votes.
