The Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi Uku Prof Emmanuel Achuenu lamented that he was now poorer as a rector compared to his days as university lecturer in University of Jos, The Town Hall reports today.
Achuenu also said that he came to Ogwashi Uku with his own cars, lamenting the cars are fewer now.
The Rector told this tale of woes to Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi Uku Alumni Association on a courtesy call yesterday.
Listen to Him: ‘I didn’t come to steal. I came to develop this school. I even came here with my own cars and now they are fewer.’
He debunked the allegations of N500m fraud, adding that no such incident occurred under his watch.
He disclosed that his greatest challenge is the publication of fake news against his person and the institution.
Said the Rector :’Every time someone lies about this school, it affects your certificates. If people think your certificate is fake, it affects your job opportunities and your future.
Let’s move forward. Our eyes were made to look ahead, not behind. This school is our common identity. If it fails, we all suffer. But it it succeeds, we all benefit.’
He therefore charged the Alumni to protect the image of the institution.
Earlier, the outgoing Alumni President, Comrade Sunny Osamor expressed the commitment of the association to protect the image and integrity of the school.
Said Osamor : ‘We owe this school everything. Many of us are now Masters degree holders, some are pursuing PHDs, others are successful business people. We all began here. This institution made us who we are.’
