Groups call for diligent prosecution of Francis Oduwanor, an alleged rapist

Groups of human rights and women advocacy have called on the Delta State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice Hon Ekemejero Ohwovoriole SAN to ensure that justice is served in the case of one Francis Oduwanor, an alleged armed bandit and rapist.

The groups made the call today following the appearance of Oduwanor and another defendant at the Delta State high court, Asaba on charges of rape and robbery.

The presiding judge has remanded the accused at the Federal correctional centre at Ogwashi Uku, pending further proceedings.

The arraignment marks a critical step in ensuring that justice is served for the victims of their crimes.

It could be recalled that Samson Eleme, an allay of Oduwanor was sentenced to death by hanging three weeks ago by Hon Justice Diai of the Delta State high court, Asaba.

The Advocacy groups and women group therefore called on the state attorney general and commissioner of Justice to ensured that justice is served.

Speaking on the matter, a representative of Women Initiative called for swift and uncompromising justice.

The group said that the Attorney General g and commissioner of Justice demonstrated commitment in the successful prosecution of Samson Eleme, adding that violence against women should not go unpunished.

It could be recalled that Oduwanor and his gang are alleged to have terrorized Otulu Ogwashi Uku community, creating a climate of fear and insecurity for the residents.
