A pressure political group, The Mid- Westerners has adviced Chief Edwin Clark to have a deserved retirement from politics rather than canvassing ethnic agenda.
The group gave this advice today while speaking to reporters and reacting to the recent call by Clark on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to resign as the PDP vice presidential candidate.
Addressing the media on behalf of the group, Hon Iwemdi Nwaham explained that it was most uncharitable for Clark to criticize Okowa while keeping silent on the millions of dollars stolen Mrs Dezianni, a former Minister in the Goodluck Jonathan administration .
The group stated that Clark was not happy with Okowa political achievement because he is not an Ijaw man.
Said the group :’For the first time since the present political dispensation a bona-fide son of the old Midwestern region is going for the office of Vice President of Nigeria with the possibility of becoming the president in eight years time. Chief Pa Clark, we are now made to believe, is not happy about that achievement because the man involved is not an Ijaw man, we may adduce. He would rather fight for a man from the southern Eastern Nigeria to be the next president than for his kit and kin from the old Midwestern region.’
The group affirmed that Clark was being used to fight a proxy political battle.
It also argued that Okowa becoming the vice presidential candidate was the choice of Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate.
Other members of the group that attended the press conference were Prof David Ejenobo, executive vice chairman, Deacon Fidelis Chimokwu, secretary and Mr Kenneth Okwuenu.
The Mid-Westerners is a group of patriots from Edo and Delta States, and are committed to the growth and progess of the two states carved out of old Mid-Western region.
