Delta State Government has assured internally displaced persons (IDP’s) impacted by the flood that are yet to receive their stipends to be patient as every genuine IDP would be served.
A statement by the Secretary to the State Government Chief Patrick Ukah, indicated that the state government understood the challenges the IDP’s would face in settling down after the flood; hence, the approval by Governor Okowa that stipends be paid to them as they exit the camps.
He said each household captured included father, mother and children are given N100,000, while eligible singles, male or female were given N40,000 to cushion the effects of the flood.
Ukah cautioned the flood victims against being used by anyone to disturb the peace currently being enjoyed in the state as there were allegations that their ranks had been infiltrated by impersonators for political purposes.
He called on the IDP’s from the Oleh Camp that were yet to receive their stipends to be patient as efforts were being made by the government to pay them their stipends once their records were confirmed.
