Plans are under way to harmonize the broadcast activities of DBS Asaba and DBS Warri towards efficient information delivery to the people of Delta State.
The Information Commissioner Mr Charles Aniagwu gave this indication in a budget defence in Asaba, yesterday.
Aniagwu said that in the proposed harmonization, no staff will be sacked rather it will give room for more robust information delivery.
Said Aniagwu :’ We are hoping that at a point in time, we will unite the operations of DBS Asaba and DBS Warri without having to lose any staff, so that at the end of the day, they operate much more harmoniously, rather than operating independently and not being able to give adequate information to our people,”
He also said government in the nearest shall recruit more staff for the state owned media houses.
The Information Commissioner said that role of his ministry was to provide a policy framework for the supervision of the parastatals to tell Deltans about government and get feedback from them.
He said that N1.3 billion is required to set up a digital printing press for government printing press, adding government was considering establishing for The Pointer newspaper.
