Govt to create favourable business environment

The Delta State Government has reiterated its commitment to creating an enabling environment for business to thrive in the state.

The Secretary to the State Government , Chief Patrick Ukah, stated this when a delegation from Ovwore Community, Amukpe, Sapele Local Government Area, visited him in his office in Asaba recently.

Ukah who expressed happiness with Ovwore Community,
comprising seven villages, for being united, urged them to remain strong in unity to defend what would bring development to the area.

He said the state government on its part was trying to see how it could leave some of the major investments in the hands of the private sector as that would be the key way to get the best out of such investments.

The SSG commended the community for partnering with the state government through the provision of their land for Songhai farm, the establishment of School of Nursing and construction of cottage hospital which were evidences that the community wanted development in the state.

He said the facilities on ground at the Songhai Delta farm showed that the founding fathers had hope and vision in their minds and assured that the state government would help to establish the farm and equip the hospital, adding that the Public Private Partnership (PPP) was dear to government’s heart.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Sir. Godfrey Akpeki, said they were in the SSG’s office to solicit the assistance of the state government in facilitating a meeting between the community and the new management of Songhai Delta farm to enable them have a good working relationship.

Akpeki stated that in the past, the community provided land for the Songhai Delta farm, establishment of School of Nursing and construction of cottage hospital, but noted that the hospital had not been equipped and appealed for it to be equipped.

He said the community was poised to partner with the state government towards its development and pledged to remain united and maintain the existing peace, as well as sponsoring assessors that would go round and carryout the assessment on the oxygen needs in the state.
