Govt signs Housing Units MOU

The Delta State Government has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) with the KYC Inter Project Limited for the provision of 10,000 affordable housing units over a period of ten 10 years in the state.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, on behalf of the state government, performed the ceremony in his office in Asaba.
Chief Ukah expressed happiness with KYC Inter Project Limited for the initiative to provide 2-bedroom, 3-bedroom and 4-bedroom bungalows in a 3000 hectares of land along Issele- Azagba and Okpanam, Off Asaba Benin Expressway in the state capital territory.
He said that when thep N273 billion project is completed, the serious problem of accommodation in the capital territory would be a thing of the past adding that it was the wish of the state government that the company would deliver on its promise.
The SSG stated that the state government was mindful of its responsibilities to provide, among other things, access road having provided and facilitating issuance of C of O for the project, having provided land for it, which would be fully sponsored by KYC Inter Project Limited.
Chief Ukah prayed that issue of inflation would not be obstruction in the future , but noted that the company had put those factors into consideration before agreeing to embark on the project.
He expressed happiness that KYC had promised to deliver 3000 housing units for public servants within the first one year of the project and stated that the government would look forward to having a big new city around the capital territory.
The SSG expressed optimizm that the incoming administration would be happy to commission the project and that civil servants would drive to the office from there within 10 minutes to resume work very early.
Earlier, the state Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Reginald Bayoko, who explained that the project would benefit the civil servants and trickle down to the public, stated that the State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, appreciates the initiative of the KYC Inter Project Limited, as the project would not demand funding by the state government.
He appealed to the civil servants to continue to compliment governments effort towards their welfare by being diligent and dedicated to their duties.
The Managing Director of KYC Inter Project Limited, Mr. Michael Ayuba Auta, thanked the state government for giving him the opportunity to serve.
He pledged to deliver the project according to specification.
The ceremony was attended by some top government functionaries including Delta State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Isaiah Bozimo Esq., Permanent Secretary, office of the SSG, Comrade Sam Dietake, and that of Ministry of Housing, Mr. Onyema Aghedo Emmanuel, among others.
