Govt gives N400 million to Schools

In order to upgrade the facilities and learning environment in missionary schools, the Delta State Government has disbursed the sum of N400 million to forty schools.
Each of the schools are entitled to ten million naira.
Speaking to reporters yesterday in Asaba, Mr Charles Aniagwu the Information Commissioner said it was part of the decisions of the state executive council meeting presided over by the deputy governor, Barrister Kingsley Otuaro.
The Information Commissioner stated that the move was a deliberate effort of the government to peak up the standard of learning and teaching in the missionary schools.
Said Aniagwu : ‘At today exco meeting, a number of decisions were taken and one of them is the approval of disbursement of N400 million grant to forty missionary schools that were previously being run by the state government before they were handed over to the missionaries.’
He also disclosed that the state executive council approved the reconstruction of the first phase of the old Lagos _ Asaba road from Umunede to Obior, a stretch of 7.6 kilometers.
