The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Delta State, Isaiah Bozimo Esq, has affirmed that the Ministry of Justice in the state would collaborate with members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security networks to combat human trafficking and irregular migration in the state.

Bozimo stated this while playing host to the new Assistant Commandant of the NSDC in Delta State, Mrs Chinyere Joy Ubani who paid a familiarisation visit on from security agencies was of paramount importance in curbing the hydra headed monster of human trafficking and irregular migration in the state.

The Attorney-General, who bemoaned the upsurge in human trafficking and its related vices of irregular migration and others, stressed that Delta State in recent times had over took Edo State which earlier topped the list in the syndrome.

Bozimo enjoined the NSDC to work closely with Mrs Ijioma Nwanze, Head of Anti-Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration Unit of the ministry for greater results.

He told the NSDC that the Ministry of Justice had embarked on regular campaigns and sensitisation of the public through visits to schools, churches, media houses and markets on the dangers inherent in human trafficking and irregular migration.

He assured that the Ministry of Justice would collaborate with relevant agencies to educate them on any area they may need clarifications, particularly on legal issues in the battle against the menace.

Bozimo stated further that from his observations, he had discovered that the NSDC boss had the zeal and enthusiasm to work, advising that if she required the assistanceof the ministry in terms of workshops and seminars on the issue of human trafficking, she should feel free to do so as the state government had the facilities for that within the secretariat complex in Asaba.

Earlier in her address, Mrs Ubani told the Attorney-General that she was in his office to intimate him on her presence in the state and as a member of the taskforce on human trafficking and irregular migration.

She assured the Attorney-General that her office would work assiduously with the ministry to achieve the desired goals of the committee.

She sought the assistance of the Attorney General to be educated in areas of relevant laws in their activities as members of the taskforce on human trafficking and irregular migration.
