A young woman of about 25 years old has abandoned her son at the waterside in Sapele, claiming she could not take care of the child.
The woman, identified as Hope, told newsmen that she decided to drop the child at the waterside because his father refused to fend for them.
Hope said she had two children for the man and his family took the first to care for, but refused to take the second child and that the man had impregnated her and absconded, refusing to own up to his responsibility.
Symphatisers later took the child to an orphanage home in the town.
The Matron at the orphanage home could not be reached, but one of the caregivers that pleaded anonymity confirmed the story, saying that the child was in a good condition.
