Delta State Government has reiterated its commitment towards supporting the State Chapter of the Nigerian Legion at all times.

The Governor of Delta State and Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa made this known during the Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service to mark the 2023 Armed Forces Rememberance Day Celebration in the State at the Glory House Gospel Church International, Asaba.

Okowa, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government , Chief Patrick Ukah, stated that the efforts and sacrifices of the fallen heroes would not be in vain as they would continue to be remembered and celebrated, even after they had gone.

The governor said the thanksgiving service was one of the several activities lined up to mark the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in the state which, he said, was geared towards bringing relevant stakeholders together to pray for the repose of the souls of the fallen heroes and to thank God for His grace and mercies upon the nation.

Okowa added that with the coming elections in February and March, the intercessory prayers made during the service clearly underscored his administration’s commitment in seeking the face of God in providing a peaceful environment for the successful conduct of the general elections.

In his sermon, taken from Ephesians 2:8-10 and Colossians 3:23-25, the Senior Pastor of Glory House Gospel Church International, Pastor Richard Akpituren stated that everyone was created to serve in one capacity or the other, adding that “we must serve selflessly in other to receive rewards from God.”

Pastor Akpituren said “as Children of God, our service should be sacrificial and not self-centered as this is ultimately what we will be remembered for when we die, either good or bad.”

The thanksgiving service featured intercessory prayers for the nation and leaders; the governor; the three arms of government and People of the state.

Other intercessory prayers included those for peace during and after the elections; the church and its leaders and for the Armed Forces and families of the fallen heroes.
