The state governor Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has approved the resignation of Dame Patience Okwuofu, chairman of Delta State Civil service Commission.
The governor approval was contained in a statement issued by secretary to state government, Dr Kingsley Emu.
In accepting the resignation of Okwuofu, the governor appreciated her for the service to the state and wishing her all the best in her future endeavors.
The governor has also approved the appointment of Mr Anthony Ofoni as special adviser.
The statement added that a date for the swearing in of the special adviser shall be announced in due course.
The Pond News understands that the resignation of Okwuofu would send shock waves to the members of PDP in the state.
Okwuofu fondly regarded as mother of government in PDP circles have been in government since Chief James Ibori administration.
She also featured in the Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan Uduaghan administration.

A trained nurse by profession, she weilded a lot of political influence and was considered the political leader of her local government areas.
The resignation is a considerable political mastersroke for Oborevwori to stamp his authority in governance.
Just last Saturday at the Thanksgiving ceremony of his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, Oborevwori sounded it loud and clear that he was not taking instructions from anyone as regards the governance of the state.
