Delta Police Commissioner under fire

The Police Service Commission has questioned the competence of the Delta State Police Commissioner.

The chairman of the commission Mr Solomon Arase took strong exceptions to wave of assaults against police officers in Delta and Imo states.

Arase said attacks against police were becoming too frequent, calling on Nigerians to ‘deserve the support, encouragement and protection of the citizens’.

This was contained in a statement issued yesterday by the spokesman of the commission, Ikechukwu Ani.

It could be recalled that on Saturday, six police officers in Delta State were killed by armed assailants.

Part of the statement reads :There must be consequences for these avoidable incidents. Any state Commissioner of Police found incompetent, derelict, and operationally/tactically porous should eased out to avoid these huge police casualties.’

The PSC chairman also hammered the Imo state police Commissioner for two police operatives that were killed on Saturday by gunmen in Okigwe.
