Looming Crisis in APC
The historic defection of Governor Sheriff Óborevwori and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa on Monday continue to have vibrations.
First was the request of Okowa to take over the structures of the party. The APC national chairman told Okowa that beggars can’t be choosers.
However, it seems Elder Omone Sobotie APC state chairman is playing into the hands of the former PDP members.
His latest directive is that any PDP person defecting to APC do not need to present resignation letter to the Ward chairman of APC.
What it means is that such APC person has questionable loyalty.
There is no evidence to show that he is no longer member of PDP.
In other words, such a member has two party membership cards – PDP and APC
The registration process of new APC members should be well managed or it may end up as time bomb.

Omo Agege as sacrificial lamb?
One thing the PDP defection to APC in Delta state has achieved is that in 2027, the state would return President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the second term president.
But one unresolved political logjam is who fly the Guber flag in 2027.
Some old APC members in what could be regarded as after whiskey talk are saying that Governor Sheriff Óborevwori is the leader of the party.
What it may mean is that the governor is the front runner for the APC ticket.
The fate of Omo Agege hangs in the balance and that he may end up as the sacrificial lamb.
There is no rosy relationship between Omo Agege and the president.
Nothing can taken for granted. Neither Óborevwori nor Omo Agege knows who would fly the flag. It is very pregnant.

Óborevwori undiplomatic message
During the burial ceremony of former deputy governor,Pro Amos Otuama ,the governor committed a diplomatic blunder by inviting Chief James Ibori to join the APC.
It was not tactical on the part of governor and showed lack of understanding of the political trend.
For a former governor who is very close to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, attracting key appointments to the state and the daughter first to defect to APC, conventional wisdom should have informed Óborevwori that Ibori is already in APC.
Secondly, the arrow head of APC, Senator Ovie Ovie Omo Agege is a political son of Ibori.
If the truth must be told , the governor is walking political tight rope and should be careful about his actions and utterances if he must get the governorship ticket of APC.
There are people in the state who are the landlords of APC. Ibori is one of them.
