Okowa Declining Influence

One of the casualties of this week PDP mass defection to APC is Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

The former PDP presidential running mate is now joining a party where he can no longer call the shot.
It is on record that Okowa steamrolled Sheriff Óborevwori over other aspirants in the PDP primaries.

Even outside power, he was calling the shots.

This is going to end in APC where there are party structures in the wards, councils and state levels. These people will not yield to Okowa demands.

Furthermore in Delta North ,Senator Ned Nwoko had captured the senatorial district by his earlier defection. There is also Senator Peter Nwaoboshi waiting to have his pound of flesh.

And lastly if the aim of the defection is to avoid the EFCC probe of the derivation fund, it is a great mistake.

Delta Legislators and Executive Arm

On Wednesday, the PDP members and Speaker of the State House of Assembly were taken to the Government House, Asaba. There, they were given instructions why they must defect to APC by Governor Sheriff Óborevwori.

If you are one of those who believe in separation of powers, then you must think again.

In Delta state, there is no such thing as independence of the legislative arm .

Some time ago, the media reported of defection of some legislators, the leadership of the House denied and reporters were called names.

Today Deltans are wiser. It is now clear that the State House of Assembly is an appendage of the governor.

And that anytime the governor sneezes, all the legislators would catch cold . So no legislator was man enough to say no to the order of the governor.

The Pond News recalled that some legislators were suspended by the House leadership under flimsy excuses.

But thorough investigation by The Pond News revealed that the suspension was as a result of questions raised by them on the non release of constituency funds by the governor.

That is the MORE Agenda at work. In Delta state, there are two arms of government -executive/legislature and the judiciary.

Media Aides and Propaganda

The Wednesday media briefing by Senator James Manager on defection demonstrated one thing. The media aides of the governor were with the senator dishing out lies about the reasons behind the mass defection of PDP .

They could not hide their faces not to talk about masking their feelings.

None of them had the courage to resign. It is question of where your bread is buttered.

Journalists in government do a lot of havoc to the image and reputation of the media.

They not only tell lies but join the political party of their principal.

So next a media aide is talking about ethics of the profession, know the concept of the big lie is at play.
