Ada Anioma Kidnap Saga

The kidnap of Hon Joan Onyenmaechi , former Technical Education Commissioner in Asaba last week exposed the security impotence of the police.

In the very heart of Asaba, close to the Police headquarters, in broad daylight Ada Anioma was kidnapped.

Yet some people are saying that the state is safe and secure.

Another angle in the kidnap saga was the unexplainable silence of the state government and the PDP.

While kidnap saga lasted, the state government did not say anything.

The PDP, the political party that produced Ada Anioma as state legislator and federal legislator became dumb.

This is certainly how not to treat a party bigwig.

Lastly, the whole kidnap episode showed the dangerous aspect of politics.

It is warning to politicians to thread lightly.

Ada Anioma is free at last after millions of Naira paid to her abductors.

Oborevwori/Ibori frostly relationship

Last week, Chief James Ibori, the former governor celebrated his birthday.

As usual top government officials sent congratulatory messages.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sent message of felicitations to Ibori. Even one politician organized birthday bash for Oghara residents in Ibori honour.

However, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori did not send a birthday greetings.

Whether it was oversight or deliberate is a subject of media conjecture.

Media aides to the governor all refused to speak on the matter.

It goes to confirm the frosty relationship between the governor and former governor.

It is on record that Oborevwori was a political aide to Ibori. This is certainly how not to treat a statesman in the mould of Chief James Ibori.

Oghenesivbe, media visibility and propaganda

A journalist working as media aide or public relations officer to president or governor should not forget journalism ethics of truth and credibility.

That is not the case of Dr Fred Latimone Oghenesivbe, executive Assistant to the governor on media

The very week Ada Anioma was kidnapped, Oghenesivbe was in the media telling Deltans and other Nigerians that Delta State was peaceful.

This is nothing short of folktales where the tortoise is a leading character.

If the aim of the media aide was to please his paymaster cum principal, he got it wrong through and through.

It was not in the realm of media visibility but propaganda and media misinformation.

Do not lace your work with deceitful media narrative,

Deltans are too smart for fall for such third rate propaganda.
