Palliatives for Party faithful
The objective of the federal government palliative is to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal on all Nigerians.
But in Delta State, it is not so.
The last palliative distribution left a sour taste in the mouth.
The grains brought were not fit for human consumption yet the palliative committee headed by Olorugun Jaro Egbo kept mute.
Even those who benefited from that palliative distribution is a closely guarded secret.
Within the week, Egbo said that another round of palliative distribution shall soon commence.
Accountability and transparency demand that Deltans ought to know how much is budgeted and breakdown of those that got the palliative according to local government and wards.
Anything short of that is depriving Deltans legitimate benefits of democracy dividends.

Online journalists, be wise
One of the definitions of news is what government officials want to hide from the public.
It stands to reason that most government press statements are public relations which should be paid for.
Even the Information Commissioner Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza recently harped on the imperative of government ministries and departments paying for news in the state owned media houses.
Yet some online journalists in Delta State publish government press statements with speed.
We can excuse citizen journalists under the veneer of Facebook.
Online news portal
registered with CAC should be wise for they are in to serious business.
If this state of rushing to publish stories without reward continues , Delta online publishers shall continue to gnash their teeth.
There is nothing like free publicity even in western countries. That is why the BBC gave President Bola Ahmed Tinunu a clean bill of health on his degree despite the reservation of the university.

Unending Okuama saga
Every day, new revelations are coming out of the Okuama tragedy.
The Ewu monarch who was picked by the military does not know that Okuama is part of his kingdom. In fact the monarch has not visited that community.
The question is on what basis was the king arrested.
The Pond News questioned the motive behind the military investigation panel.
The military cannot be a judge in its case and that is what the House of Representatives public hearing in Warri is all about.
The Delta State Government is planning internal displaced persons camps for the residents of Okuama.
Where will the camps be located? Today Okuama as a community is no more.
Very few buildings like that of churches are standing.
Government should think outside the box to strategically tackle the Okuama crises.
