‘Delta most peaceful state’

Youths in the country have been charged to contribute their quota towards the development of the country.

Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi OKowa, gave the charge through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, when he, on behalf of the governor, received an award of excellence for making the state the most secured in Nigeria.

The outgone Youth Corp members who served in the state in 2022 bestowed the award on the governor.

He said that the state government placed high premium on youth development, and commended the outgone Corp members for comporting themselves during their service year in the state.

The governor urged them to shun pride and engage themselves in useful ventures to enable them eke out a living and be responsible citizens.

He expressed happiness that many of them who were not from the state testified that Delta State was the most peaceful in Nigeria.

The governor explained that the peace and security being enjoyed in the state was a deliberate effort of the state government for businesses to thrive in the state which had also contributed to the prosperity agenda of the administration.

Earlier in his address, the leader of the group, Comrade Precious Ezekwere, said they were spurred by the existing peace in the state to present the award to the governor for making it the most secured state in the country.

Comrade Ezekwere also stated that Governor Okowa, during the End SARS protest in 2022, stood by the youths, which he said had endeared him to them.

He said by that solidarity, the Nigerian youths had decided to support him and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by voting the party in the 2023 Presidential Election.
