The leadership of Uzere and Aviara communities in Isoko South local government areas of Delta State recently boycotted a federal government ceremony.
The occasion was the commissioning of the 7.85 kilometers Uzere Aviara road.
No reason was given for the boycott but The Pond news understands that the communities were not satisfied with the standard of work.
However, while commissioning the project, President Muhammadu Buhari said the road was meant to improve business, create jobs and prosperity to lift the people out of poverty.
The president who was represented by Minister of Labour and Employment, Olorogun Festus Keyamo urged the two communities to use the road to improve their economic lives.
Said the president :’As you can see, we are handing over today the 7.85km road, which links Aviara Uzere communities in Delta State. A very important road that connects agrarian communities to ease movement of their farm products’.
In a related development, Keyamo promised that the second Niger Bridge shall be completed and commissioned by the Buhari administration before the end of its tenure, adding that the project was very dear to Mr President.
