The Delta State Environment Commissioner, Hon Godspower Asiuhwu has charged council chairmen to live up to their responsibilities of keeping their environment clean and evacuation of dead persons from the streets.
The commissioner gave the charge today while speaking to journalists in Asaba, Delta State capital.
He frowned at the attitude of council chairmen abandoning their environmental roles to the state government.
Asiuhwu stated that the state Ministry of Environment was not taking over their roles but that of supervisory ministry.
The commissioner was particularly not happy the way residents of Asaba in Oshimili South LGA were observing the weekly Thursday sanitation exercise.
Asiuhwu called on authority of Oshimili South local council chairman and management to have a change of heart and take issue of sanitation very serious.
He said that his Ministry fumigated major markets in Delta State and helped flood victims to resettle in their homes after the disaster.
He disclosed that his team at the Ministry of Environment shall work to the last days of the Okowa administration.
Asiuhwu made a passionate appeal to Deltans to vote for the PDP and elect Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as the next governor of Delta State.
He warned Deltans against voting for the APC as Senator Ovie Omo-Agege shall learn on the job.
With Oborevwori, Asiuhwu argued, it would be continuity in governance.
