The cashless policy of the federal government has made armed robbers to device a new method of robbing their victims.
Armed robbers now rob their victims with POS (point of sale) device.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, daredevil armed robbers with guns and POS invaded Eleshin at Olomo community in Apete Ido LGA of Oyo state.
For many hours running, the fearless robbers moved from one house to another, forcing residents to bring out their ATM cards for transfer of money.
While the incident, there was no police to challenge them.
Faced with threats of death, the victims surrendered their ATM cards to the bandits.
The operation which started around 1am on Saturday lasted for hours.
A victim lamented on what happened:”The armed robbers got to the area around 1am. They operated freely. They came with POS and transferred some amount of money, which cannot be specified at the moment, from one of their victims’ account. They also transferred an undisclosed amount of money from his wife account and left.
They also went away with two phones, iPhone II Pro Max and X Max”
Residents in the community are living fear and some are contemplating leaving the community for good.
At the time of reporting this incident, the Oyo State Police Command Police Public Relations officer, Adewale Osifeso could not be reached for comments.
The Pond News understands that the insecurity in the nation is assuming a life of its own as the citizens could not be protected by the police.
It is only hoped that President elect Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu shall change the ugly security narrative for good when he is sworn-in on May 29, 2023.
