President Muhammadu Buhari shall on May 22, commission the Dangote refinery in Lagos.
A special assistant to president on digital communication Bashir Ahmad disclosed this today via his verified Twitter account.
The refinery is expected to make more refined petroleum available and may end fuel scarcity in the country.
Bashir Ahmad tweeted thus :’Efforts by federal government to make Nigeria self sufficient in local refining of crude oil to save the scarce foreign exchange used in the importation of petroleum products have received a boost as the 650,000 barrels per day. Dangote refinery, the world’s largest single train refinery, is set for inauguration on May 22 2023, by President Muhammadu Buhari’.
The Pond News understands that the refinery cost about nineteen billion dollars and is expected to be Africa biggest oil refinery and perhaps the world biggest single train facility.
The refinery is expected to employ 9,500 direct jobs and more than 25,000 indirect jobs.
